Honouring the Roots of the Salisbury Centre through Meditation, Movement and Music
Dates: Thursday evenings 23 May, 13 and 27 June, 11 and 25 July.
Time: 6.45pm for start at 7pm until 9pm.
Venue: The Salisbury Centre, 2 Salisbury Road, Edinburgh, EH16 5AB.
Cost: By donation.
Led by: Fateah Alice Saunders, who has been following a Sufi path for many years and is a mentor and an internationally experienced teacher of Dances of Universal Peace since 1994.
Dances of Universal Peace (DUP) were started in the late 1960’s by Samuel L Lewis, a close disciple of Hazrat Inayat Khan, who was the inspiration behind the foundation of the Salisbury Centre 40 years ago.
Singing, dancing and meditating with the words and movements of the DUP give us many ways to increase the sense of joy and harmony in our lives and so bring these attributes into our communities.
It has been said that the DUP are the best preparation for meditation and that meditation is the best preparation for the DUP. So we shall also experiment with these aspects to facilitate a deeper spiritual experience and understanding of ourselves.
There will be no sense of performance about participation – beginners and experienced dancers are all equally welcome.
Please wear comfortable clothing and bring soft shoes or socks.
5 sessions are planned before the summer break, with the possibility of continuing in the autumn.
Come when you can, although attendance of all is recommended.
